Trixie Hanging Cat Scratcher Board - 2.3 feet

I intented to use to this horizontally, rather than vertically as one of cats is a horizontal scratcher. While the board itself is okay for the price, the layer of sisal that has been used is pretty thin, about 2-3mm and stiff. Immediately after this thin sisal layer is a layer of thick MDF board. The sisal itself is glued on and woven pretty tight, so my cat wasn't able to scratch this at first. He would claw at it, attempt to scratch but he wasn't able to get a good grip. I ended up loosening the weave and unsticking some of the fabric from the MDF board, so he's now able to dig his nails in and pull at the same time. However, this is still not something he liked very much and I'm probably going to have to remove the sisal fabric, insert another layer of fabric and staple everything back together again.
