Step-by-Step Guide to Baking the Perfect Dog Cake

Baking a cake for your furry family member is easier than you think, especially with HUFT’s Instant Cake Mix. This simple guide walks you through each step so you can whip up a tasty dog birthday cake right at home - no chaos, just fun and loads of tail wags!

1. Start by emptying the contents of packet 1 (the cake mix) into a mixing bowl. Slowly stir in the wet ingredients a little at a time, mixing well until you get a smooth, pourable batter.

2. Lightly grease a round 20 cm cake tin with a bit of cold-pressed sunflower oil or ghee. Line the base with baking paper, pour in the batter, and gently tap the tin on the counter to release any air bubbles.

3. Place the tin in a preheated oven at 180°C and bake for around 25 to 30 minutes. Use a toothpick or knife to check if it’s ready - if it comes out clean, your cake is perfectly baked.

4. Let the cake cool down completely for at least 30 to 45 minutes before removing it from the tin.

5. Time for the frosting: In a bowl, mix the second packet of the cake mix  2 with 100 ml of thick curd until it becomes smooth and slightly runny. Spread it generously over the cooled cake, and top the cake with your dog’s favourite treats.
