Admit it - we humans are the worst at keeping promises. But old habits die hard, right? Knowing the new year is here, I yet again rolled up my sleeves, opened my journal and decided to pen down how I'm going to transform myself to be my absolute best self. Perhaps that's what I foolishly believed a year ago too, for my older unfulfilled resolutions stared back at me with mock.
Now bored with my failed attempt to 'journal and reflect', my mind decided that daydreaming is a better way to entertain oneself. And it got me thinking something bizzare—if Noodles could talk and write, what would his resolutions look like? The answer made my tummy tickle and it was just too adorable to not share!
So here it is - My pet's 12 new year resolutions for 2023
1. I will try to not eat my poop
Hooman says it stinks and it's not that fun when I kiss her. Even though it’s my natural instinct, I can understand how it can be yucky for her. Maybe if she distracts me with something that tastes different, I might just not eat the poop.
2. I shall no longer chew down the furniture
Mom says they're expensive and I don't even pay rent. Being really adorable can’t always get me out of trouble. Let's just enjoy the chews hooman got for me.
3. A job might be fun
I've heard from my dog friends that being a pet influencer on social media can get me goodies from HUFT. And nobody can pose better than me!
4. I will not throw a tantrum when my hooman leaves for work
They say they will come back and they always do. I just hope they remember to leave me with some fun toys so I can distract myself.
5. Tricks are fun, maybe I'll learn a new one
So far I can sit, lie down, give a paw and do a fist-bump on command. These aren't enough for my smart brain. I must ask hooman to keep teaching me something new.
6. I. Must. Smell. Everything.
Like every year, I promise to take all my walkies very seriously. The great outsides are my favourite adventure. I cannot wait to explore it all with my hooman!
7. Try out new food
I know, I know. I’ve been fussy about what I eat this past year. But I’m willing to try different foods that hooman thinks are better for my health. Sigh, things you do for love.
8. I’ll allow them to dress me up
Each time I dress up in a new attire, it brings my hooman so much joy! There's always a camera and a lot of treats involved. What’s there to lose?
9. I shall befriend more streeties
Imagine having a friend to greet each time you walk down the street. It truly is the best feeling in the world. Hooman even recently got them some goodies for the new year!
10. I must nap harder
This is an absolute non-negotiable. My bed is my safe space. Let them wonder what we dream about.
11. Continue to enjoy the little moments
Whether it's playing with my favourite ball, having a yummy meal or chasing kids down the block, it's important to remember the things that bring me joy.
12. Add licks and love to my hooman’s life
The most important resolution on my list is to always keep my parents on their paws and shower them with unconditional love! They truly are my entire world.
That’s it, dear readers. Even if Noodles is not able to keep his resolutions, I promise to do my best so he lives his absolute best life. I hope you too have something similar planned for your pet this year!
